Last week was the soft-start to diploma. After a gruelling return trip from Canada (it made me want to switch my diploma topic to service recovery in air travel), we selected our desks and got oriented for the semester.
I have the great privilege of working with a great (and large) team of designers, researchers and editorial staff at Schibsted Media Group. I sat in on a series of meetings, reviewing the progress their design teams have made and trying to build consensus around which research topics to pursue. This was a great way for me to meet new people at Schibsted, and to understand their priorities.
A lot of the internal priorities mirrored the research I've been doing - how to understand user's, their behaviour and needs; how to provide rich and engaging experiences; and how to monetise those experiences. I'm looking forward to shaking things up a bit by trying to bring a longer-view back into the design group.
